Arizona’s Marikopa County closed the vote counting center for the media and public figures due to fears of unrest. This came after Donald Trump supporters, many of them armed, gathered in front of the building.
The accountants continue to work and report the results in the middle of the demonstration outside. Voting results in the state are expected to come out today.
“The election officials will continue their job, which is to administer the elections in the county’s second largest voting jurisdiction. We will release the results tonight as planned. We thank the Sheriff who is doing his job to do our thing.” issued a statement from the electoral commission.
The protesters chanted “Count the votes” and “FOX TV is rotten!”
CNN reporters remained inside the building. The police are trying to devise a plan to evacuate the people who work in the electoral commission after the ballots are counted. Many of them parked in the parking lot in front of the building and it is unknown if they will be able to reach the cars.
According to the latest data, votes for Democratic candidate Joe Biden are far ahead of current President Donald Trump, and he is very close to becoming the 46th president of the United States.
