US President Donald Trump today downplayed concerns about climate change, saying that in the end “there will be a cooling,” AFP reported.

Trump said this at a briefing in California dedicated to the fires raging along the west coast of the United States for more than a week.

“Eventually there will be a cooling down,” Trump said in an exchange of views with Wade Crawfoot, a representative of the California-based Natural Resources Protection Service, BTA reported.

“I don’t think science really knows’ what’s going on,” said the Republican president, who has often expressed skepticism about climate change.

“In fact, there will be no chills, Mr. President,” Crawfoot said on Twitter.

“The evidence speaks for itself: Climate change is a reality and it is getting more serious,” said California Governor Gavin Newsom.
