After two consecutive months of declining public support for the main ruling party and growth of the extra-parliamentary opposition, October saw the stabilization of September levels.
GERB and BSP remain at practical parity, according to data from survey agency Trend from a nationally representative survey conducted Oct. 3-10 among 1,000 people commissioned by 24 Chasa.
The current photo shows some five parties in the next National Assembly, and in addition to the GERB (24.1%) and the Socialists (23.6%), the party of Slavi Trifonov, MRF (10.2%) and “Democratic Bulgaria “(8.8%).
The formation around Maya Manolova (3.9%) and “Patriotas Unidos” (IMRO and NFSB) with 3.8% remain with real possibilities of representation.
There is also no significant dynamic among the smaller political formations. The differences are within the standard statistical deviation.
Trend tests the attitudes of Bulgarians on the issue with COVID-19 every month since March. After the initial calm after the liberalization of the measures, fears gradually increase.
In October, two-thirds of Bulgarians believe that the coronavirus epidemic will continue to develop. Only 15% believe that the pandemic is waning.
Half of Bulgarians are of the opinion that measures against the spread of COVID-19 should not be restored, according to data from the sociological agency “Trend”.
The evaluation of the work of parliament remains the lowest of all institutions. Three-quarters of Bulgarians evaluate their work negatively, while only 14% give a positive evaluation.
The government hasn’t seen a change since last month, with just over a fifth willing to rate it positively. 48% value the president positively, while 39% think the opposite.
Since the protests, the court and the prosecution have seen their performance drop. Although the protest is directed against the prosecution, the court also suffers from responsibility, as it is considered part of a common system with the prosecution: the judiciary. Both institutions receive a little more than a fifth of positive evaluation and more than 60% of negative evaluation.
There was also a certain dynamic in the assessment of the police, since immediately before the protests 48% declared a positive assessment and 38% negative assessment, then in October 45% declared a negative assessment and 43% positive. There are no dynamics in the army.
