Starting today, the passage of heavy trucks through the “Ilinden-Exohi” border checkpoint with Greece is resumed, BNT reports according to information from our embassy in Athens.
No PCR testing will be required, but a QR code obtained after registration will be required no later than 24 hours prior to travel. The decision does not affect tourists.
The Regional Directorate of Border Police – Smolyan does not confirm the information that the passage of heavy trucks is being restored to date.
The owner of a Gotse Delchev transport company, Krastyo Veselinkov, categorically denied that the checkpoint was open to Horizont.
“It was a hoax that our Foreign Ministry used to calm the tension. I called this morning. There is no such information in the border service for September 7. The date of September 15 is known here,” emphasized the carrier.
“The trucks come periodically from Romania, from Poland, ours from Blagoevgrad. I have recorded a video of the incoming trucks,” Veselinkov said.
He estimates his losses at around BGN 600 per course. “About 600 leva covers the costs that we pay more per course.”
“Prices are no longer tied. Everything doesn’t make sense,” added Krastyo Veselinkov.
I don’t know about bankruptcies, but there are serious losses, he said in response to a question about whether there are closed trucking businesses in the Gotse Delchev area.
“Thank God I did not rely on those 60/40. Before the checkpoint was closed, I was working normally, but in these two months since it was closed, my billing was reduced by approximately 70%,” explained Veselinkov .
Regarding the civil disobedience request, which was made a few days ago by the transport companies, Krastyo Veselinkov clarified that it has not yet been considered how exactly this should happen.
