A torchlight procession, organized by the System Kills Us initiative, passed through the streets of Sofia on the 111th night of anti-government protests in the capital.
It is in memory of the “child victims of the social care policy due to their expulsion from specialized homes.”
According to the mothers, the children are taken from the institutions, but end up in “houses of terror.”
The Ministry of Social Affairs described these accusations as false and manipulative. From there, they categorically state that all homes for children with disabilities were closed in 2015 and the children are in an environment close to the family.
The protesters’ demands are the resignation of the government and the attorney general, as well as the holding of early elections.
The discontent of the employees of the Ministry of the Interior continues. This time, the police and fire brigade from southeastern Bulgaria protested. They met in front of the Burgas Palace of Justice.
Employees from all structures of the Interior Ministry joined in a silent warning protest. They are protesting the fact that they are off the list of civil servants who will receive up to a 30% increase in their salary as front-line employees.
Firefighters and police officers also gathered in Plovdiv and, like their colleagues in Burgas, symbolically took illuminated phones.
