Nearly 900 companies with more than 13,000 workers have benefited from the state’s 60:40 coronavirus for businesses scheme. These are data from the first days after the introduction of the measure, explained Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev in the “Face to Face” program.

According to him, additional support for small businesses, a quick grant scheme, is currently being considered.

The deputy prime minister said it was not yet clear when it would be possible to relax the restrictive measures introduced to spread the virus.

It was the measures and the blow to the economy that led to another inter-institutional battle, in which President Rumen Radev and Tomislav Donchev spoke yesterday.

“The war against the institutions is always bad. There must be tension between the institutions, the constitutional regulation itself implies that they control each other. But now we are wasting constitutional energy, in this situation it is superfluous. There must be total national consolidation. What does it offer Mr. President? What can we do differently from what the whole world does, from what the WHO recommends? It is good to have a dispute, but in a way of dialogue to exchange points of view, make suggestions. Did you hear the proposals from the president? “Donchev asked.

He also commented that he was proud to be Bulgarian, as the Bulgarian people were doing well in the situation given, even better than other countries, added the deputy prime minister.

In this context, however, the big questions for the economy remain. More than 61,000 people have been unemployed since the beginning of the state of emergency in Bulgaria.

Donchev commented that there was no guarantee that the state would withdraw the entire BGN 10 billion loan, nor a guarantee that it would be spent in full.

Currently, BGN 870 million have been reprogrammed from various crisis management programs, with one and a half billion for the 60:40 scheme alone: “The big issue will be health and social systems. Payments in these systems will be less and will cost more. These systems should be subsidized to support them, “Donchev said.

He recalled that all administrative offices were ordered not to interrupt work but to take the necessary security measures. The deputy prime minister asked for a signal if any administration has suspended its work due to COVID-19.
