One of the 8 European supercomputers will run in Sofia for up to 3 months to help with medicine. The machine can help fight rare diseases and detect vaccines. Thanks to him, the time for all this will be cut in half, reported bTV.
“Time is especially important in more specific periods like the current one. The trend is that a drug, vaccine or preparation will be much more personalized in the future for the preliminary evaluation of influencing a certain group of people”, explains Martin Danovski, president . of the State Agency for Research and Innovation.
In addition to medicine, the supercomputer can be used in business, agriculture, and the automotive industry. The machine is expected to be operational in Bulgaria from July 1. Scientists are currently testing their systems.
Access to the room with the supercomputer is very limited, and entry and exit is by facial recognition only.
Scientists hope the machine will endure and attract new research capacity from both Bulgaria and abroad.
“Our team is very intensive in both research and business. In this way, we will be able to increase the added value of products and processes in our economy,” added Danovski.
The supercomputer in question will be the most powerful in Eastern Europe.
