They offer an extension of the measures – NOVA

Anti-epidemic measures must continue to operate until January 31, 2021, with exceptions for students in grades 1-4, kindergartens, and hotel dining rooms. This was proposed by Health Minister Kostadin Angelov and members of the National Operational Headquarters at a working meeting under the leadership of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

“Society hopes that in the coming days we will be informed, and in a timely manner, what we intend to do based solely on medical experience, according to the number of infected, cured, etc.,” Borisov said at the beginning of the meeting .

Borissov: We give 100 million BGN to hospitals across the country

The Minister of Health reports that in a week the number of Bulgarians cured by COVID-19 is 18,907.

“The other positive aspect of the introduction of the measures is that morbidity in the country has dropped and is now below 600 per 100,000 inhabitants. We do not have areas colored black, where it is more than 1,000 for every 100,000 inhabitants, ”said Minister Angelov.

However, despite these trends, Bulgaria maintains its place in terms of morbidity in the EU (positions 10 and 11), and in terms of mortality, our country ranks first.

Now it will be possible to issue electronic references and prescriptions.

In this context, and after a series of meetings with professional organizations and competent structures, the Minister of Health proposed to the Prime Minister all the measures scheduled for December 21 that will continue to apply until January 31, 2021, except the following:

– allow students from 1st to 4th grade to attend school from 4 January next year, as well as open kindergartens and nurseries;

– as of January 1 to open galleries, museums, cinemas and theaters that are not closed, operating at a capacity of 30% and by means of an armchair;

– Allow hotel dining rooms to function with up to 50% occupancy only for hotel guests and no later than 10 pm.

The Minister of Health stressed that due to the continuous strong pressure on the system, it is unthinkable to speak of an even greater relaxation of restrictions in our country. Your next revision should be January 21 and refer to the period after February 1, suggests Professor Angelov.

High number of deaths with COVID-19, but also many cured

Borissov insisted that he always relied on expert opinion when making decisions. The Prime Minister pointed out that in the context of the strictest measures in Europe and the world, Bulgaria continues to apply the most liberal regime, which protects people’s psyches and allows them free movement.

“In the current situation and with this burden on the health system, we can maintain the current measures and hope that after the holidays the new cases will continue to decrease,” he said.

He pointed out that the extension of the measures until January 31 requires the State to deliver new 250 million BGN to compensate for businesses that are temporarily closed or those with limited activity.

“We have to go through these days. The pandemic is unpredictable, so let’s protect ourselves, as much as possible, with discipline, distance, disinfection,” Borissov added.

“The proposal to extend the measures is very balanced. Thus, we will strengthen the fragile trend to reduce COVID-19 cases, and after the holidays we will discuss the possibility of further mitigating the measures, “said the Chief of State Health Inspectors, Prof. Angel Kunchev. The president of NOCHE and director of the Military Medical Academy Ventsislav Mutafchiiski added that given the morbidity at this time there can be no further relaxation of the restrictions.

The final decision of the authorities on what has been taken will be announced at the regular briefing of the Minister of Health and representatives of the NIGHT on Thursday.
