They looted flu shots for hours

The flu vaccine crisis is getting worse. The new batch hit drugstores on Tuesday and was literally sold out in a matter of hours. Some GPs also received fewer vaccinations than reported.

“I had ordered 150 pieces, they sent me 100. Hopefully we will receive an additional one, which has exhausted its quantities,” said Dr. Emil Milenkov.

A dose of vaccine against COVID-19 in EU countries will cost 1.78 euros

However, others will still be waiting for vaccines. There are already 100 patients on Dr. Mindov’s list who want to get vaccinated. The growth is double compared to last winter. Seniors will be given priority.

“More than 65 years with chronic diseases – it will no longer be given to the mass consumer. I will drive by list, in the order of registration. If someone gives up they are still waiting for the reservation. They look in pharmacies, but they do not find them there either ”Says Dr. Georgi Mindov.

There are no more vaccines on the free market, confirmed the Pharmacists Association. In just a few hours, all the amounts received on Tuesday have been exchanged. The reason was the much smaller number of deliveries than the promised 70,000 units. And there would be no new delivery, pharmacists say.

“Even some pharmacies had as many vaccines as staff and they did not even sell them. When 15 vaccines arrive at the pharmacy, the staff is 20 people and everyone is vaccinated … and for customers it simply does not exist”, says Nikolay Kostov.

Meanwhile, the debate continues on whether the new order for the mandatory use of outdoor masks is necessary, especially for children.

“I think it is too much. Honestly, outdoors, especially for children, I think it is unnecessary. They are not in the risk group,” says Galya.

According to Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, the upcoming tightening of measures is a step in the right direction, but under certain conditions.

“On a walk in the mountains alone, with or without a dog, I don’t see any reason to wear a mask,” said Tomislav Donchev.

“Masks, my call is for everyone to wear them, because the mask mainly protects others in case a person is an asymptomatic carrier of the virus,” said Dr. Hasardzhiev. “Tough months are ahead, it is necessary that each of us take responsibility,” he said.

Dr. Nenkov: The flu shot is a wonderful medicine, but for people over 65

And the Sofia and municipal police teams have already mobilized to check if the new measure is being complied with.

“I have ordered expanded control not only at commercial sites during the day, but also at sites at night, when control appears to be weakest,” said Mayor Yordanka Fandakova.

Starting tomorrow, to avoid passenger congestion in metro stations, the interval between trains at peak times and on the busiest lines will be reduced.
