A boy who disappeared in a deadly tsunami in Sri Lanka in 2004 was found by his mother after years of searching, police said.
The boy, identified as Akram Rizhan, was five years old when the tsunami struck his village, located 367 kilometers east of the capital, on December 26, 2004, BTA reported.

The boy was initially admitted to a local hospital but was later adopted by a family, said his mother, Abusali Sidi. “I was looking for my son for several years, but could not find him. I turned to the president and asked the police for help,” he told reporters.

Finally, the woman received information that her son had been adopted and contacted the family. After a DNA test, she was reunited with her son.
