Father Georgi Spasov came across the unpleasant image this morning.
The “St. Petka Samardzhiyska” church in the Largo area woke up with red paint and eggshells after last night’s protests.
Early in the morning, Father Georgi Spasov arrives at work. There are no signs of the vandals, but there is dried red paint on the doors. In front of the entrance are scattered and broken eggs thrown into the sanctuary. “I am confused. I cannot give you an explanation, but as a priest I can say that these are not Christians … A believer would not do such a thing,” he commented.
“It just came to our attention then. It’s no accident that someone uses paint. There were also eggs. This is a place where Vasil Levski is also buried,” said Vasilianna Merheb, who is a volunteer at the church.
The priest, along with everyone in the temple, immediately set out to clean up the paint and trash in front of the entrance, so with his help, within hours of the act, almost no trace remains.
Although the staff managed to clean it with great effort, there are still traces of red paint on the walls.
At the moment, the perpetrators of the vandalism remain unknown, but they have given a signal from the temple and hope that with the help of cameras in the area they will be caught.
“Maybe these are some provocateurs, but who will they provoke? The police? Or will Father George provoke? It’s funny! The sad thing is another: that it exists, the souls of these people live in darkness. I am willing to forgive them immediately, as long as they repent ”, says Father Georgi.
So far no one has regretted apologizing.
