The prosecution and the police revealed armed robberies that took place in Plovdiv in the period 2013-2014. The two authors were charged and prosecuted. So far, it is clear that they have committed 7 identically thefts at 24-hour shops and gas stations, Trafficnews reported from the district attorney Rumen Popov’s briefing in Plovdiv today.
Initially, one of the perpetrators was arrested and 48 hours later the other. They have made full confessions. The pattern was identical: the two wore masks that showed only their eyes. One enters the site with a firearm, takes his turn and the other waits for him outside.
One of the detainees is an active firefighter, but at the time of the crimes he was not in charge of the Ministry of the Interior. The total funds raised from the 7 robberies amount to BGN 2,400. Nobody was hurt. The detainees were born in 1990 and 1991.
At the time of the crimes, the two were unemployed, aged 22 and 23. The second became a firefighter with a clean court record in 2015.
District Attorney Rumen Popov said there was abundant evidence of the crimes, including inspections, searches and seizures. The drivers of the crimes have also been identified. According to Popov, the conclusions that can be drawn is that anyone who commits a crime will receive retribution. He pointed out that in recent years there has been the detection of very serious crimes by the so-called cold archives.
The penalties they can receive are from 5 to 15 years in prison, as well as the confiscation of property.
