At the time of the crimes, the two were unemployed, aged 22 and 23. The second became a firefighter with a clean court record in 2015.

District Attorney Rumen Popov said there was abundant evidence of the crimes, including inspections, searches and seizures. The drivers of the crimes have also been identified. According to Popov, the conclusions that can be drawn is that anyone who commits a crime will receive retribution. He pointed out that in recent years there has been the detection of very serious crimes by the so-called cold archives.

The penalties they can receive are from 5 to 15 years in prison, as well as the confiscation of property.
