A driver crashed his car into two police officers guarding the Capitol building in Washington, seriously injuring them in an apparent attack, Reuters reports, citing Washington police. He got out of his car armed with a knife. According to CNN, one of the police officers and the attacker were killed. The nearby building, streets and office buildings are closed and additional police teams have been dispatched to the scene.
The Capitol remains guarded by the United States National Guard for three months after protesters stormed the building.
Government officials still in the building have been sent an SMS warning to stay away from the windows.
