Retirees are expected to receive a supplement to the pension of BGN 50 by March next year. This was announced by the Minister of Social Affairs Denitsa Sacheva after the meeting of the corresponding parliamentary commission, cited by Pariteni.bg.
Yesterday, the prime minister announced that there will be additional money for retirees while there is a pandemic.
Borissov: BGN 50 for retirees, as long as there is a pandemic, then – indexing
For three months, they have been receiving a supplement to their pension of BGN 50 per month, and assistance reaches 2,119,256 pensioners in Bulgaria. The funds are intended to overcome the pandemic and, for this, an additional 100 million BGN will be allocated from the State Social Security (SSS) budget.
Denitsa Sacheva explained that according to statistical calculations, medicines for adults cost an average of BGN 56 and with the supplement of BGN 50 they will cover their most urgent needs.
The Minister of Social Affairs recalled that several options are currently being discussed to update the pensions for next year.
“Currently different calculations are being made, with different options. Our wish is to support all Bulgarian pensioners, but at the same time to maintain the solidarity and fair model of the pension system. There are different options, and the most favorable, perhaps, is the minimum pension to become 300 BGN and the maximum, 1,400 BGN “, explained Sacheva.
How pensions will increase – decide by early October at the latest
Sacheva also made it clear that CITUB’s proposal to link the minimum pension to the minimum wage would be better supported.
The various pension proposals vary between 1,200 and 3,800 million leva.
The maximum insurance income to jump to 3,200 BGN is a possible proposal, Sacheva added.
It is not ruled out that this year there will also be a salary increase in the budgetary sphere, he added, but said that there is still no solution for that. However, an increase in salaries in municipal administrations was discussed.
Minister Denitsa Sacheva also clarified the upcoming changes to the Law on Persons with Disabilities and assured that no one will be left without financial support.
“On the contrary, they will receive support much faster. Individual evaluation is not ruled out. It remains, but it will relate to personal assistance, social services, vehicle purchase and assistance related to rebuilding a home or job,” he said.
