The richest Asian in the world is no longer the owner of Reliance Industries Ltd. Mukesh Ambani and the former stranger outside of China Jun Shanshan, Bloomberg reported.
June’s net worth increased by $ 70.9 billion in 2020 to $ 77.8 billion, making him the 11th richest in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Its wealth is also one of the fastest accumulated in history and is even more remarkable given that it is little known outside of China.
June owes its success to two unrelated sectors. It made vaccine maker Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy Enterprise Co. public in April last year, and a few months later its bottled water company Nongfu Spring Co. became one of Hong Kong’s most popular listings. Since its debut, Nongfu shares have risen 155% and Wantai shares more than 2,000%.
Already the second-richest Asian, Mukesh Ambani remains a titan in the technology and e-commerce sector. His fortune increased in 2020 by $ 18.3 billion to $ 76.9 billion.
Jun, 66, is not involved in politics and his business is not related to any of the other great wealthy families in China, which explains why he is also known as the “Lone Wolf.”
