The European football championships will be renewed in July and the remaining matches of the Champions League and Europa League will be played in August. UEFA and the Association of European Clubs understand this, according to Spanish radio Cadena SER. However, the emphasis is that the parties will be in front of empty stands.
In recent days it has been confirmed that there is a possibility for Euro tournaments to be played in a single match on neutral ground when possible. When it’s all over, players will have about 3 weeks off before the start of the new season in September. All of these accounts are in the context of the current state of spread of the coronavirus. Changes to the plan are not excluded.
Some time ago, UEFA President Alexander Cheferrin had said in an interview that euro tournaments should end on August 3. Soon after, however, the European plant denied this deadline. In the last few weeks, the respective leagues have put a lot of pressure on the fact that it is of utmost importance to finish the championships as soon as possible to fulfill the contracts with the television stations, which are one of the main sources of income. To meet this, UEFA has accepted the idea of euro tournaments ending after the end of the seasons in the national championships.
