Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on the military to prepare for war and show absolute loyalty and reliability. He did so during a visit to a military base in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong, where he addressed the Marine Corps of the Chinese Army. This was reported by Xinhua.

“It is necessary to concentrate all thoughts and forces in preparing for war, ensuring a state of increased combat readiness,” said Xi Jinping.

He noted that “the Marine Corps is an elite unit that carries on its shoulders the most important task of protecting state sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and the interests of the country.”

He also called for intensifying efforts to accelerate the transformation of the body and increase its combat effectiveness in order to create a powerful army. According to the head of state, the training of the Marines should be in line with the country’s development and security strategy.

In his speech, the Chinese leader also said that the military “must be disciplined, guarantee absolute loyalty, self-denial and reliability.”
