Inspectors from the Slovenian Ministry of Health sealed all the ski lifts at the Krvavec ski resort on Saturday, which continued to operate despite the authorities’ ban on ski resorts hosting guests until January 1, 2021, it reported. BNR.

Slovenian news agency STA reported that ministry officials had evacuated skiers from the slopes at the foot of the mountain and sealed all the cabins at the ski lifts. The resort administration has been fined 4,000 euros. Earlier, the management of the complex announced that it intends to continue its work despite the ban by the authorities. This drew criticism from Prime Minister Janez Jansa.

The government’s decision to temporarily ban ski resorts took effect on December 24. As of January 1, resorts will only be able to receive guests if they present a negative coronavirus test conducted no earlier than 24 hours prior to arrival on the track.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Slovenia has registered 114,025 infected and 2,532 deaths (as of December 26). For the moment, an epidemic regime has been declared throughout the country, all public events have been banned and the work of public institutions, with the exception of vital ones, has been suspended. Travel between municipalities and abroad is allowed only for good reasons, and from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. there is a curfew. The only exception is allowed only for the Christmas and New Year holidays, when all Slovenians can visit friends and relatives living in the country.
