Sweden’s strategy of not imposing a total quarantine and introducing light measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic in the long term should be a model for other countries. This is the opinion of Dr. David Nabaro of the World Health Organization, expressed in an interview with local radio, TASS reported.
The special envoy added that the country’s authorities trust the good faith of the population by not imposing strict restrictive measures. The Swedish authorities have asked people to maintain a social distance and, if possible, to work remotely. Schools, kindergartens and restaurants remained open, but all public events were canceled, Nova TV reported.
The Swedish economy, like the economies of other countries, has felt the negative effects of the pandemic: the unemployment rate in the summer of this year reached almost 9% and forecasts are forecast to decrease GDP by approximately 7 %. The number of detected cases of coronavirus infection in Sweden has exceeded 87,000, and the deaths of infected people are approaching 6,000.
