The World Health Organization praised Sweden as a “model” to combat the coronavirus at a time when countries are lifting blockades after the nation has lifted the restrictions, nypost.com reported.
WHO Senior Specialist Dr. Mike Ryan said there were “lessons to be learned” from the Scandinavian nation, which relies heavily on citizens for self-regulation.

Ryan noted that instead of restrictions, the country “has implemented a very robust public policy around social distance, care and protection of people in long-term care facilities.”

He said the country has also stepped up testing and has enough hospital capacity to handle any outbreaks.
“I think if we want to reach a new normal standard, Sweden is a model if we want to go back to a society where we have no quarantine,” Ryan said.
