Inspections are conducted around the clock in connection with anti-epidemic enforcement, but our resources are limited. If we had passed the bill on volunteer units, now we could have help. And now, thank God, there are volunteers. Any city council can organize these groups of people. This was said by the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Stefan Balabanov, about the role of the police in the situation of the pandemic.

The police mainly monitor whether the quarantine is observed. The acts of the offenders are also written up. Police officers also participate in disinfection. Its buses are used as ambulances. The frequency of the Ministry of the Interior is established in that of Ambulance, so the police assist emergency doctors. The work is responsible and dangerous, Balabanov confirmed.

There are two people convicted of violating the quarantine and some 3,000 acts of violating the quarantine. There are 6,000 pre-trial proceedings.

Fandakova commented on the guard kindergartens for the children of doctors, the measures and the snow situation.

The deputy interior minister also told bTV whether the measures taken to limit COVID-19 in Bulgaria have been delayed. From his words it was clear that checkpoints will not be used if current measures do not lead to the desired result.

“I think the balance is good. I hope that in 2 weeks the measures will work, to reduce the number of deaths and infections. There are scientists and doctors in the National Operational Headquarters and since they have decided to do it now, it is fine. The measures are enough good. We have to trust our specialists, “Balabanov was categorical.

Regarding the discontent of the police, he said that he understood their demands. He recalled that so far the salaries of law enforcement officers have been increased several times. However, he insists that the police are very nervous. Balabanov said they were also at the forefront of the fight against the virus and had also been subjected to severe humiliation in the summer, targeting protests that included insults and physical confrontations with the police.

“They are not protesting for money, but mainly to preserve their dignity,” the deputy minister said.

“It is not time for protests, it is time to fight together,” he added.
