Britain has become the first country to approve the use of the COVID-19 vaccine by the British company AstraZeneca, according to global agencies. The UK has ordered 100 million doses of Astrazeneca, enough to vaccinate 50 million people.

This happened after the country recorded two consecutive days, on Monday and Tuesday, a record number of new cases of coronavirus in one day. The epidemic in the country accelerated in early winter in the context of the identification for the first time in the UK of a new, more contagious strain of the virus.

Earlier this month, Britain became the first country to approve the KOVID-19 vaccine from US company Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech.

Previously, Astra Zeneca announced that its vaccine was effective in 70 percent of cases. By comparison, Pfizer claims to be 95 percent efficient.
