Twins Georgi and Nikola Assenovi, accused of beating 168 Chasa’s editor-in-chief Slavi Angelov, lost their freedom on Thursday. The two were placed under house arrest a week ago by the special court, but the second instance, the special appeals court, overturned the decision and they are keeping warm.

An inspection by 24 Chasa showed that his accomplice Biser Mitrev also wanted to be released. However, the trial court refused to release him.

The three have been behind bars since April 16, when they were arrested for the brutal beating of the journalist a month earlier. On the night of March 17, three masked men stalked Angelov outside his home and attacked him with metal bars. They fled due to eyewitnesses.
