Two twin brothers from Brazil underwent gender reassignment surgery at the same time. This is the first case of its kind in the world, writes “Daily Mail”.
Miley Phoebe de Resende and Sofia Albuquerque, 19, say they haven’t recognized each other as children since they were born.
“I always loved my body, but I didn’t like my genitals,” said Mila, who is studying medicine in Argentina.
Since childhood, the twins dreamed of becoming girls, despite the ridicule and misunderstanding of others. His mother emphasizes that she has always perceived her sons as daughters.
Maila Phoebe de Resende also says:
“When I was a child, I took a dandelion in my arms. I blew the seeds into the air. I wished God would turn me into a girl. I still can’t believe my dream comes true. And my first post-op shower. it was magical, “he said.
“We live in the most transphobic country in the world. It was very difficult at school. Some classmates kept throwing notebooks at our heads,” said Sofía, a blonde who studies civil engineering in Sao Paulo.
The twins were born in Tapira, a city of 4,000 inhabitants in the state of Minas Gerais.
They still bear the emotional scars of their difficult childhood: to this day, they live in fear of abuse. But they say they have always had the support of their family.
“Our parents were not afraid of who we were, they were afraid that people would mistreat us,” Meila said.
His grandfather is the one who paid for his operations. He auctioned a property he had to pay the 100,000 reais ($ 20,000) bill.
The largest country in Latin America is known for its blatant homophobia by its far-right president, Jair Bolsonaro.
