The organizers of the Poison Trio anti-government protests: Professor Velislav Minekov, lawyer Nikolay Hadjigenov and Arman Babikyan will stop the traditional night protests and initiate new forms of resistance against Prime Minister Borissov and Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev via social media .
In addition, they are beginning to form like-minded committees across the country.
So far, the Trio has not announced whether they will form a protest party or not.
This is what Minekov, Hadjigenov and Babikyan announced on the 116th night of popular discontent:
Dear friends,
Free and brave citizens,
Today, on the People’s Awakening Day, we can report that we woke up 67% of the citizens of Bulgaria, that we woke up the world media about the corruption in the country, that the government lost 400,000 votes, so far. We wake up the European Parliament. Millions of Bulgarians realized that the king is naked! Hundreds of scientists, teachers, students, artists and intellectuals, people of different professions, who felt alone and thought that no one understood them, raised their voices. We are many and we understand it! Bulgaria will never again be the same horrible hole into which people’s dreams, justice, work and money sink. The only ones we couldn’t wake up were Borisov, Geshev, and the nearby clique around them.
In its current form, the protest has accomplished the unthinkable, surpassing even our wildest dreams. The time has come to change and update it to achieve our goals.
There is another important reason for turning our nights of protest into other forms of resistance. We must preserve the ability of Bulgarian doctors and nurses to cope with the wave of patients. We are making this move out of respect for our white-collar rescuers and disgusted with the power of the mob. We consider it hypocritical to criticize the ruined healthcare system and at the same time create a risk of infection, even for one of you! The government is afraid to assume this responsibility because it will receive political accusations and it will lose its rating even more. That is why we, the Trio, and the citizens will take responsibility, as we will accept the curses in our speech. One must have the power to choose between qualification and even a human life. Borisov does not have this power and is immersed in fear! We have it!
During every day in this square, we have made it clear that we are against violence. We made living chains, we sold people, we hunted down provocateurs, we guarded children, the elderly and the police. Today we cannot cause misfortunes and illnesses to even one person in the square, because thousands, tens of thousands of Bulgarians pass through here. It is also solidarity with the weary doctors, nurses, and medical personnel who literally live in their jobs. They also supported us in the protest here for months!
We will keep you informed of all the civil actions we take to do it together. Follow the Poison Trio page and the media, which tend to cover protest initiatives. We will continue touring the country and forming committees. We continue to recruit volunteers from all over the country and abroad. We will continue the revelations about the power of the mafia. We will continue our joint work to protect the votes of Bulgarian citizens.
The battle will be with other methods of resistance and we will press the murmur system to the end. Our demands remain the same: the resignation of Boyko Borissov, the resignation of Ivan Geshev and early parliamentary elections. If Borissov insists that we fight the battle on another terrain, we will defeat him there as well. # RESIGNATION!
