The government has heeded calls from companies that have long insisted that the National Revenue Agency (NRA) provide direct support to businesses closed due to restrictive measures. This stems from a speech by the Minister of Economy, Lachezar Borisov, during a working meeting in the Council of Ministers called by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
For the first time, the NRA participates in a procedure to support companies in the conditions of the coronary crisis. According to Minister Borissov, this is an “innovative approach” that business organizations have been pushing for a week.
The president of the Industrial Capital Association (BICA), Vasil Velev, explained last week that it is through the revenue agencies in Western Europe that compensation is paid for closed deals. Then Velev criticized the cabinet’s decision to transfer the funds through the European program “Innovation and Competitiveness”, because there is slow work and “large companies have not yet received compensation for the first shutdown of the economy.”
It is clear from Lachezar Borisov’s statement that the funds will be paid through the National Revenue Agency under a new measure to support businesses. However, it has yet to be announced, perhaps later this week. The support will be equal to a percentage of the turnover, which will be specified only with the employers’ organizations for the sectors affected by the anti-epidemic measures.
We hope that the process will be fast, that the documents will be delivered within a week and in a similar period to respond with funds from the National Revenue Agency, which will later be reimbursed by OPIC, ”said the Minister of Economy.
Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev assured that the scheme will cover all companies closed as a result of the restrictive measures.
The support application process will be entirely electronic, through a special module through the UMIS system, which should facilitate the process as much as possible.
