Dozens of citizens from the two Roma neighborhoods in Sofia – Facultades and Filipovtsi took to the streets around noon to protest peacefully after being completely blocked on April 16.

The case was Thursday night when a group of young people, according to the Interior Ministry, were drunk and tried to break the blockade and were beaten by the police. This is evident from the video distribution on social media.

The deputy mayor of the Krasna Polyana municipality said he had reached out to the prosecutor’s office to get a Facebook clip of a local Roma leader who organized the protest today, BNT reported.
Late in the evening, the Interior Ministry acknowledged the tension in the Faculty District due to traffic restrictions.
Interior Minister Mladen Marinov said information was being tracked on social protest networks.
At the same time, massive coronavirus tests continue in the two Roman neighborhoods of Facultad and Filipovci.
So far, 160 rapid tests have been conducted. Of these, 20 have yielded positive results. After a PCR test, only 50% of them were positive. 10 cases infected with coronavirus are reported to be 10 in both Roma neighborhoods, the Sofia Regional Health Inspectorate said.
