In Sofia a second case of a deluded old man has been established. The perpetrator is the same, he returned to present himself as a Post Office employee. The deceived old man is 83 years old, SRS administrative chief Nevena Zartova said at a briefing.

We told you about the first case a few days ago in “Hello. Bulgaria”. The victim is 89 years old and separated from his pension with 400 BGN after a meeting with an alleged employee of the post office.
The scheme under which the perpetrator acted is again the same. The crimes were committed every hour in the same area of the capital. The criminal, who has eight convictions and a rich criminal past, remains in detention. He was charged with fraud in the context of a dangerous repeat offense. The law provides for 3 to 10 years in prison for this type of crime.

“Among the priorities of the prosecution is the prevention of this type of fraud,” said prosecutor Zartova.
And the management of the Sofia Police and the District Prosecutor’s Office with extraordinary measures due to the frequent cases of deceived elders in recent days.
“This case took us out of our skin, because this type of fraud is an attack on the dignity of an older person, who must receive the respect of society,” said SDVR director, senior commissioner Georgi Hadjiev.
The sums of the two victims have been reimbursed. And the police appealed to the elders not to trust naively.
