The repair of the 52-kilometer section between Chirpan and Stara Zagora on the Trakia highway will cost more than the construction of the section. It starts in days and will develop in stages without it being clear how long it will last. This was clear from the words of Ivan Dosev, a member of the Board of Directors of the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA), to BNT.
The repair will begin with the road in the direction of Sofia – Burgas and its estimated value is about BGN 90 million, said Eng. Dosev.
This is a record price for road repairs, built ten years ago. The 38.6 km section of the two lanes, from 171 to 210 km of the road, was built in the period 2003-2007 by Joint Venture Ranway AD with the contractor PSI Stara Zagora for 104.7 million BGN with VAT or an average of BGN 2.7 million per kilometer on both lanes.
Now, without a public award, Boyko Borissov’s third cabinet is giving 1.7 million BGN just for one lane repairs, without presenting any justification and even the plans and stages for carrying out the repair.
He is assigned to the highway maintenance company on the Trakia highway, the state highway. Currently, it is engaged in the construction of the Hemus highway, the repair of viaducts on the roads and the Vitinya tunnel, the strengthening of landslides, a total of orders for around BGN 3 billion awarded directly by the state .
As there is no capacity – equipment and workers, “Autopistas” non-transparently subcontracts the sites to private companies through equipment and material leases. Therefore, it is unknown in whose pockets the commission is sinking, and repairs are carried out for years, for example, the “Hemus” viaducts, irritating travelers in this direction.
The initial idea for the repair of the section between Chirpan and Stara Zagora was to start in the second half of September and be done in 3 months, but unfortunately this cannot happen and that is why it will be done in stages, said Ivan Dosev.
Due to the large volume of construction works and for the convenience of the drivers, so as not to close the entire section for a long time, repair work on the road will be carried out in stages, in smaller sections and we will try to do them in a short time, he added. . He noted that the builders are well prepared with the necessary inert materials and asphalt bases.
However, the highway chief did not say how long the repairs would take or how many stages the section was divided into.
