The presidential secretary general returned fire to Karayancheva

The president’s secretary general, Dimitar Stoyanov, responded to the fire that Tsveta Karayancheva opened today against Rumen Radev and his team. The head of the National Assembly and vice president of the GERB accused the head of state and his advisers of “absolute incompetence”, an unfounded choice of the voting date and their ideas for changes in the Electoral Code.

Immediately after his statement, Stoyanov wrote the following post on his personal Facebook page:

“Karayancheva evaluated the competence of the president and his team. Let us now evaluate the competence of the so-called president of the National Assembly (PNS for short, not PKP):

– “despite the unfounded date for the elections, we (referring to GERB) will keep it”

It was good for the lady to read the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria. There is no requirement for argumentation to determine the date of the election. Consultations are not required. For reference, article 98, point 1 of the CRB.

– There are instructions from the European institutions not to make changes to the Electoral Code a few months before the elections, as this undermines the credibility of the electoral process.

Yes, but this recommendation is for a situation where there are no extraordinary circumstances. Now we are in a pandemic and a large part of the Bulgarian citizens will not be able to vote. PNS does not mention who these institutions are (it does not know them). A few months, is this incompetence? 1,2 or 22? How many months, Ms. Karayancheva? According to the European Court of Human Rights, according to the Venice Commission? Let me ask the competent PNS when was the last change made to the Electoral Code? On 8.10.2020 Is the prescription followed? It is not! This is a competition, so to speak! These recipes do not apply to GERB and OP when the changes they drive are in their “interest”.

– again according to PNS – “the president … isolates the Catholic and Armenian communities”

Remind the PNS, which is a political person, art. 13 par. 4 of the Constitution: “religious beliefs cannot be used for political purposes”. It is a shame that Karayancheva violates the Constitution or does not know it. However, she is familiar with the new constitution, which she has not accepted (or may not have read). The president has not taken away anyone’s right to vote, Karayancheva should think of those more than 2 million Bulgarians whose GERB and OP have suspended their constitutional right to vote.

– According to the PNS, the president “Isolating the children who will be on vacation with their parents, which will make them return to their polling place to vote.”

Children don’t vote! Art. 42. (1) from KRB! Citizens over 18 have the right to vote!

PNS is competent! Walk! “Wrote the president’s secretary general on the social network.
