More than 15 were the strongest aftershocks
The powerful earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale was felt throughout Bulgaria. This was explained by Prof. Nikolay Miloshev, director of the BAS Geophysical Institute. According to him, there is no danger to our country at this time.
“After the main earthquake, there are more than 10 aftershocks, with a magnitude between 4 and 5 on the Richter scale. This is perfectly normal, it should happen. And surely we will not feel these weaker earthquakes in Bulgaria. But this series will last a long time, “explained Professor Nikolay Miloshev.
“I was a bit surprised that it was felt even in Ruse, on the upper floors, of course. There should be nothing terrible for Bulgaria, there should be no material damage, because we are very far away,” Miloshev added.
“Just as the post-earthquake series is happening, it suggests that things are gradually softening. But I don’t want to be in the place at the time of the Izmir people, for whom the earth shakes under their feet every 15 minutes.”
