Former national Blagoi Georgiev is one of the iconic figures of native soccer in the new century and was one of the stars of both Slavia and the Bulgarian national team.
He was born in 1981 and has had a solid career abroad, playing in Alaves, Red Star, Duisburg, Terek (Grozny), Amkar (Perm), Rubin (Kazan) and Orenburg.
He made an extremely good name for himself in Russia, but just over two years ago he decided to end his soccer career and pay a little more attention to his family.
He agreed to speak to a Novapress.bg reporter about soccer’s personal ambitions, the national team, and the current situation.
It is worth noting that Georgiev is very religious and that faith in God is something that has always played an important role in his life until now.
We started talking about how the current situation could be affected by football and where the former Slavic star is currently located.
“I am currently at home with my family. I take time for them because I realize that during the years I was abroad, I did not have time to be with my closest people,” he told Novapress.bg.
“In general, the situation with this virus is very difficult. I speak with my friends in Russia and the doctors. It is infected all over the world.”
We couldn’t help but ask Georgiev and what he thinks of the measures taken by the church, as well as whether he believes that Bulgaria is guarded by God as one of the least affected nations in Europe.
“There are a lot of religious people here and I think that matters. Certainly, faith is the greatest and I believe that God is helping us in this battle. Without faith there is no way to do it.”
“Regarding the church, I want to thank Boyko for being the only one to intercede. Everything else that is said makes no sense.
