At the end of September, a decision will be made on the amount of next year’s pensions: whether to continue the payment of the anti-crisis supplement of BGN 50 to the monthly amounts of adults, or there will be a new calculation. This was said on Friday by the Minister of Social Affairs, Denitsa Sacheva. We are working on options to recalculate the pensions granted before 2015, to recalculate all pensions or only the lowest, explained Sacheva. In her opinion, all pensions should have been recalculated.

The option to recalculate the pensions granted until 2015 would cost the state between 1,200 and 1,500 million BGN and would apply to one million, one million one hundred thousand people. Estimates for all options range from BGN 1.2 billion to BGN 3.8 billion a year, the social affairs minister said.

CITUB came out with a position that it is inadmissible for the government to announce intentions and options that have not been discussed with the social partners. The union recalled its view that the only correct and fair approach to increasing the amount of pensions is to increase the ratio of each insurance year. They are ready with their proposals for next year: higher income from contributions, minimum pension of 45% of the minimum wage, a higher ceiling and more. They are against recalculating old pensions. “This approach violates the basic principles of insurance, since it breaks the link between contribution and rights and forces solidarity under the pretext of increasing the lowest pensions,” wrote CITUB.
