“The video does not recreate any specific moment, which is its objective. Despite the retro car, it can be at any moment, the last decades. Therefore, although with slight vintage references, the history of the video could happen today.
– Where did the association of blondes and red curtains come from?
– He wanted Desi to be an unrecognizable idea, and what could be more effective than changing her iconic dark waist-length hair with short blonde hair? And consequently dark eyes with blue. The effect was amazing for both me and her. Answers to my ideas that I was looking for. Of course, this happened thanks to the professional work of makeup artist Slav Anastasov, who also took care of Desi’s hair in this vision, understood the idea I was looking for and recreated it. As for the red curtains, they simply cried at being in this scene to contrast with Jesse White’s fussier, colder, and at the same time attractive presence, as we call this most “brilliant” alter ego character from Desi.

– Where did the young man who dances on stage come from? Does he look like a professional artist?
– Even when Desi sent me the song in a functional version, this dance character appeared in my head and was not a young man at all. In the process of shaping the overview, we had already started looking for a suitable person for the role, we had almost found one, but things never happened to him. And so, one night, while walking the dog and listening again I know you’re worried it occurred to me that

The idea was for it to be an amateur performance anyway, so I fit in perfectly. It just didn’t fit the age that the character had been assigned for this role. Once again, thanks to the professional services of a makeup artist in the person of Svetlana Yakova, who aged me a decade more, we managed to face this challenge and the effect of the change is obvious. As for whether the character looks like a professional artist, I’d rather not say that, at least through my prism. That was not the idea either. He is an amateur dancer who participates in an amateur competition. In fact, we filmed three full improv double stunts on my part to cover some of the prospects I had planned. The truth is that it was difficult for me to direct all of this and be in front of the camera at the same time, we felt pressured when we had the room and, literally, when I got off the stage and picked up the equipment, the spectators came to a piano concert.

The result can be imagined by anyone as you like or philosophically speaking: each option, I took care of the overview of the video, like the story, the costumes, the setting, the characters, the location, as far as I could recreate what was happening in my head, all this with the help of our wonderful little team, coyote.We had so much fun throughout the process, even when the first few shots of the day when I lit a cigarette and didn’t smoke made me so sick from the smoke that we almost finished before I’m thankful for what we got as a final product, and I wouldn’t have been if it wasn’t for the inspiring music it creates DESY and the confidence that vision gives me to create visions for him.
