The money has been recovered from the two deceived elders in Sofia. This happened on the order of Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev, in the presence of SRS Administrative Head Nevena Zartova and SDVR Director, Senior Commissioner Georgi Hadjiev.
We tell you about the events in NOVA News. A few days ago, an 89-year-old man parted ways with BGN 400 from his pension after a meeting with a suspected post office employee.
The repeat offender, who robbed a pensioner in Sofia, took money from another man
In the second case, the deceived was an 83-year-old man.
The perpetrator turned out to be the same. In both cases, they were Post Office employees.
Some say these are small cases that don’t matter. And so it has been for many years. However, they are and will be a priority for the Prosecutor’s Office. And the change is already visible. Congratulations to colleagues at SRS and SDVR. https://t.co/hF90tejFhi

“Some say that these are small cases that do not matter. And so it has been for many years. However, they are and will be a priority for the Prosecutor’s Office. And the change is already visible. Congratulations to the SRP and SDVR colleagues,” he wrote Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev on Twitter.

The repeat offender with a long criminal past remains permanently behind bars, the Sofia District Court ruled.
According to the indictment, the man stole a total of BGN 700, posing as an employee of a post office.
According to the court, if the accused is released, there is a high probability that he will commit a crime. Furthermore, the magistrates did not ignore his numerous convictions, mainly for fraud. The two crimes for which Alexander Mitev is responsible were committed in just one hour.
Alexander Mitev, 60, was brought to court in handcuffs. He introduced himself as an unemployed man living with his family in the Filipovtsi district of the capital. However, he did not say a word about the scams and hid his face.
According to the investigation, Mitev cheated the two pensioners under the same scheme, after collecting their pensions at the Geo Milev district post office.
“The defendant introduced himself as an employee of the post office. He explained to the victim that the branch where he received his pension had paid him 50 BGN less, and asked him to record that amount to make sure,” explained district attorney Nevena Zartova .
He then returned the money to the man, but kept 300 for himself. An hour later, Ivan Dechev parted ways with 400 BGN. The incident was filmed on cameras.
“In itself, this case took us out of our skin, because this type of fraud is an attack on the dignity of an elderly person who should be respected by society,” said Georgi Hadjiev, director of SDVR.
Once again, the police asked the elders to be careful when random people asked for money.
