The mayor of the village of Vresovo in Burgas received two charges. One for stealing money destined for firewood from the neighbors and another for covering the roads. Mayor Yuluman Hassan tried to set his office on fire so there would be no evidence. The prosecution also demanded his urgent dismissal, reports Nova TV.

In mid-November, a fire burned the mayor’s office in the village of Vresovo, traces can still be seen. Yulyuman Hassan, 33, said nearly 30,000 firewood levs were burned in the incident. However, in the course of the investigation, it turned out that the arson was intentional and the money was not in the office. The DNA on the flammable liquid container was found to match that of the mayor.

“Apart from that, he will be responsible for trying to cover up his act by setting fire to the property of the municipality of Ruen worth 906 BGN”, explained the prosecutor Milena Stoycheva of the Aytos District Prosecutor’s Office.

In order not to keep people cold, the Municipality of Ruen cooperated in a timely manner and firewood was provided. However, the residents of the village of Vresovo are upset by the mayor they have chosen.

Mayor Yuluman Hassan declined to comment on the burning of his office and the theft of money. However, he made full confessions to the prosecution, expressed his regret, and recovered some of the missing funds.

“An application for dismissal will be presented to the District Court of Aytos. Occupation is punishable by 1 to 6 years in prison, and destruction and damage to property with up to 5 years in prison,” explained prosecutor Stoyneva.
