A few days ago it was announced that some 300 UDF members from the city and region of Plovdiv will join Tsvetan Tsvetanov’s new party. According to them, the Blue Party has renounced its ideals.

UDF President Rumen Hristov said in an interview that no more than 10-15 people had separated from the party, part of the former UDF-Plovdiv leadership and various people around them. He described it as a “storm in a glass of water.”

“I do not expect such a process throughout the country, on the contrary. We are a small formation and we are consolidated ”, said Hristov. However, he realizes that it is not good to lose members.

Asked whether the UDF would participate in a coalition with the GERB in the next elections, Rumen Hristov explained that when the two parties attended the European elections together, they signed a framework agreement.

“We said that if this format is successful, we will try to complete a full cycle of elections together. The European Parliament elections were approved, the local government elections were approved and now the parliamentary and presidential elections are approaching. If we reach an agreement in terms of important things for Bulgaria, we will surely be together ”, explained the president of the UDF.

Regarding the protests, Hristov said that the Blue Party was not participating in them because it would mean that the BSP would return to power.
“We cannot afford to participate in a protest that would return the main political opponent of the UDF to power,” he said.
