Heavy traffic on the last of a series of weekends. Thousands return home after the holidays. Long columns of cars are expected in many places. The police are attentive to offenders. As of today, traffic has been restored on the South Arc of the Sofia ring road between Mladost and the Trakia highway. There is a serious traffic jam before noon, as all cars travel in one lane. Traffic had to be regulated by the traffic police.

The launching of part of the repaired section caused traffic jams in all directions towards Gorublyane. The road narrows sharply from three to one lane, but in the end it is better than it was until recently, completely closed, “said Sofia Deputy Mayor Doncho Barbalov.
After several months on the road from Pancharevo to “Gorublyane” it passed quickly and without obstacles, from today drivers will have to travel much longer.
The Road Infrastructure Agency believes that the launch of the section will facilitate a large part of the residents and guests of Sofia.
“These traffic jams that formed were nothing compared to those in Mladost and Gorublyane. You know how the traffic was here for several months,” said Rumen Sechanski, director of the Sofia Regional Highway Administration.
Many drivers and passengers trapped today agree. “Okay, it takes about ten minutes,” said one of them.
The section is 6 km long and is regulated by traffic lights. “After the launch of the route, these traffic lights will disappear and then the traffic will be much easier,” Sechanski said.
The new section should be operational by the fall of next year. Until then, if necessary, the traffic police will regulate the traffic.
