The first vaccines against COVID-19 will arrive in Bulgaria tomorrow between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., the Ministry of Health announced.

By order of the Minister of Health today, on Sunday, December 27, the immunization campaign against COVID-19 begins throughout the country. It will be organized by regional health inspections, and vaccines will be administered by doctors in ambulatory and hospital medical establishments, regional health inspections, by doctors in specialized structures of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defense, and by people specially created for this purpose. mobile immunization teams.

If necessary, immunization teams will include specialist physicians from emergency medical care centers and health offices in kindergartens and schools or from other medical institutions.

The order states that immunization against COVID-19 is recommended and free and is optional.

It is carried out in accordance with the requirements specified in art. 11 of the Ordinance No. 15 of 2005 on immunizations in the Republic of Bulgaria, and prior express informed consent of the person or the legal representative of the person signing the list of outpatients issued by the GP for the examination and placing the vaccine or by signing an informed consent form.

According to the order, the district governors and the municipal administration, including health mediators, the Bulgarian Medical Union, the National Health Insurance Fund and the directors of medical establishments on the territory of the respective districts, provide assistance for the implementation of the immunization campaign: district governors and municipal administration.

The first shipment will be 10,000 vaccines, which will reach 5,000 people. Yesterday, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced that doctors and nurses who are at the forefront of the fight against the disease will be vaccinated first.

The government has developed a national immunization plan that sets out the vaccination procedure. After the doctors, pharmacists and dentists of the first line come the employees of the administrations, key to the existence of the State. Third are the nursing homes and social care homes.
