The situation with the spread of the coronavirus infection in the second largest city in our country is complicated. The local government urgently converted one of the municipal health facilities into a COVID-19 hospital. Thus, in practice, Plovdiv became the first city in the country to open this type of specialized hospital. How will it work and what will its capacity be?
Children under the age of 18 are prohibited from entering Sofia’s shopping malls without company.
The transformation of the Sveti Mina health facility into a COVID-19 hospital will take place in stages within a week. Currently, 23 patients are treated here, who will be transferred to another hospital building. The first compartment relocated will be the internal one.
“In a very short time, we are talking about two or three days, a cardiology department will be transformed, which will move to our other base on Vesela Street. In parallel and surgically, “explained the manager of MHAT” St. Mina “- Plovdiv Prof. Petar Petrov.
The hospital management intends to maintain only the children’s ward, turning it into a specialized one for children with coronavirus.
Doctors and nurses at the hospital, still exhausted from staff shortages, learned of the transformation one afternoon. Lyuba Draganova, who has been a nurse for 30 years, is considering staying here.
Minister of Health: Don’t do tests if you don’t have symptoms.
“Perhaps age and the accompanying illnesses are the reason you might think.” The only and most important thing is to have personal protective equipment, because there are many health workers who are infected and sick, and everyone is worried “, said.
Others have already decided to leave
“No, I won’t stay. I probably can’t, because I have a chronic illness,” said nurse Yordanka Boeva.
To solve the staffing problem, the regional crisis headquarters will provide doctors from the clinics. And it will insist on its additional material stimulus from the municipal budget.
“These doctors – nurses, doctors, nurses, who will start, will take over the new beds and rooms in” St. Mina “also to vote a fund and receive some funds on salaries and on these 1000 levs in question,” he said the district governor. from Plovdiv – Dani Kanazireva.
At the same time, several hospitals in Plovdiv complained about a shortage of Remdesivir, one of the important drugs used to treat coronavirus patients.
How long does the procedure take with antigen testing in front of hospitals?
“Almost all of our patients already know about Remdesivira. Unfortunately, so far we have only had the drug for two people. The problem is not only with Remdesivira. Since last week, anticoagulants have disappeared from the Bulgarian market, these are preparations that are used in all over the country in all COVID-19 wards, ”says pulmonologist Dr. Maria Dimitrova.
In the late afternoon, the Health Inspectorate provided the necessary amounts of Remdesivir, but recognized the lack of other important drugs.
“I know there are difficulties, but they will be overcome. We are talking about low molecular weight heparin, an anticoagulant. I think there are other opportunities for medical institutions to help stop this disease process,” said Dr. Siika Dimcheva, RHI-Plovdiv .
As of today, three more private hospitals in Plovdiv have joined the fight against the coronavirus by opening 60 beds.
