The internal borders of the European Union must be opened quickly with growing evidence that transmission of the new coronavirus is weakening. The recommendation is to return to the “unrestricted movement” within the union, but with a warning that the bans could be reversed if the pandemic situation worsens.

On Friday and Saturday, Germany will open its borders with several neighboring countries, but Italy is not among them.
