The EPP MEP, Roberta Matzola, has withdrawn her proposals for changes to the resolution on Bulgaria, which must be voted on by the EP. We remind you that one of the proposals he made was to register that the head of the casinos was financing the protests.
Matzola’s rejection of her own proposals came shortly after the Poison Trio threatened to sue her over her allegations. This is what the Trio wrote on the occasion:
“We are glad that in 1 hour EPP MEP Roberta Metsola easily chose between the courtroom we would send her to and her link to the GERB elite. She had prepared an amendment in which there was a statement that a famous tycoon I was paying Obviously, the EU judiciary is working better than the Bulgarian one, and the bleak outlook has prompted Ms Matzola to rethink her words and withdraw her proposal. We have simple dreams of fighting corruption and real democracy. Ms Matzola’s financial intelligence has revealed the guarantor of the murder of journalist Daphne Galicia, and we want both freedom of expression and tools of the trade to fight the mafia.

lawyer Nikolay Hadjigenov specifies:
“Guys, coats and hats!
The protest is a huge force and we are influencing and changing the entire European Union!
Less than an hour after the announcement that we will sue Maltese MEP Roberta Matzol for defamation, he withdrew from the amendments to the resolution the text that the protests were financed by Bozhkov.…. “
I do Babikyan adds: “After we posted on Twitter an hour ago that we would sue Roberta Matzola for defamation, she withdrew her amendment! GERB and his servants laughed. Again”.
Silvia Atipova from Brussels also reacted:
“Something happened.
Yesterday it was clear that the #LIBE resolution for Bulgaria, which was debated on October 5 and will be voted on on October 8 in the European Parliament, 49 amendments were tabled.
36 of them were presented by Roberta Mezzola, MEP from Malta, member of the EPP.
Amendment 28 contains the following text:
“Whereas in January, the Attorney General’s Office opened investigations into a prominent gambling, tourism and construction mogul in Bulgaria; that as of June 2020, 18 criminal charges had been filed against him (including organized crime, extortion and attempted bribery ) 1a; while this individual has allegedly been channeling financial resources towards ongoing protests1b “.
In plain English, this means:
“Prosecutors have brought 18 charges against a gambling boss and he is allegedly paying the protesters.”
There are AT LEAST 2 problems with this:
– Mezzola is co-chair of the Anti-Corruption Intergroup, together with Daniel Freund. To allow such text in the resolution would be a sensational mistake and very bad for your reputation and that of the group.
– This statement are, in fact, rumors, also known as “fake news”, which are about to enter the official text of Parliament.
Some quick tweets (attachments) followed.
Several quick retweets from friends and like-minded people.
Some quick emails and a message that the correction has been removed (photo).
Strange.
But that leaves more questions than answers:
– Who tricked Roberta Metsola to include this shameful and false text in the amendments?
– Until when will the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Bulgaria distribute false levels?
– Who and when will take responsibility for deceiving the European partners?
Tomorrow, 8 October, the LIBE resolution on Bulgaria will be voted on in the European Parliament. “
