The Sofia City Court placed a woman in preventive detention, leading to an accident late at night on December 17 in the capital, in which one person died and a 16-year-old boy was injured.
The prosecution announced that the accused, 40 years old with the initials RB – was driving while intoxicated.
The accident occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Boycho Boychev Street in the Ovcha Kupel neighborhood. The woman, driving a Porsche Cayenne in the direction of President Lincoln Blvd. to Suhodolska St., entered the opposite lane on the two-lane highway. Thus, “without constantly monitoring the car he was driving” and in violation of the Road Traffic Law, he caused an accident with the approaching car “Polo Polo”, announced the Sofia Municipal Prosecutor’s Office.
As a result, she inadvertently caused the death of the Volkswagen driver, as well as moderate bodily injury to her 16-year-old passenger.
The investigation into the pre-trial process is ongoing.
The indictment also states that this is “another case of serious violation of traffic rules after drinking alcohol, as a result of which innocent citizens are killed.”
And they recall that earlier this year Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev proposed changes to the Criminal Code to the legislative and executive authorities, which, in his opinion, would help reduce this type of crime.
