Czech police used tear gas and a water cannon to disperse hundreds of protesters who attacked them after a demonstration in Prague against government restrictions against the coronavirus, the Associated Press reported.

At least 20 people were injured in the clashes.

The Czech authorities banned sports competitions and ordered the closure of bars and restaurants. The gathering of more than 6 people in public places is also prohibited, but up to 500 people can come out to protest if they split into several separate groups of 20 people and wear masks, reports BTA.

Today, however, many of the protesters did not wear masks and the number, according to police, exceeded 500 people.

After the protest ended, some of the protesters stayed in the square where they had gathered and began throwing beer bottles, stones and pirates at the police, who responded with water cannons and tear gas.
