Czech Republic and Slovakia do not support the draft the conclusions on the enlargement of the EU adopted by the European Council, because the text contains the “concept of falsification of history” – This is stated in a joint statement by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, cited by BNR.
Both sides express deep disappointmentthat the negotiating framework for North Macedonia, as well as Albania, has not been adopted, the joint statement said.
The Czech Republic describes the Bulgarian claims on North Macedonia as “damaging” on the process of enlargement of the European Union. The Czech edition of the Czech Foreign Ministry told the Macedonian edition of Deutsche Welle that the disputes between Skopje and Sofia should to be decided between the two countrieswithout being part of North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations. Prague believes that the final text should be approved by the next European Council.
Yesterday Czech Republic and Slovakia locked the draft of the document of the EU Enlargement Council, which did not approve the framework for accession negotiations not only with North Macedonia but also with Albania.

Bulgaria, for its part, recently said that it has nothing against the negotiations with Albania, but did not accept the framework for North Macedonia arguing that Skopje is not implementing the bilateral Neighborhood Agreement. The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regretted that “the EU Council’s conclusions on the stabilization and association process were unexpectedly blocked by two Member States.”
