Britain’s Home Secretary Priti Patel said activists from the Rebellion Against Destruction movement had become “participants in an ecological crusade into criminals who endanger the basic principles of the British way of life.”

The use of such ratings by the British government was caused by the blockade of Rupert Murdoch’s printing presses, which thwarted the timely distribution of some newspapers last weekend. Dozens of movement activists have been arrested.

Priti Patel made accusations of “Rebellion Against Destruction” during the annual conference of the Association of Chiefs of Police. As The Guardian notes, despite harsh comments from the government on the move and more than a year of talks between police and ministers on changes to the law, there are still no concrete plans.

The police view Rebels Against Destruction activists as people who do not use violence but are “specialists in civil disobedience”, which costs a lot of time and money to deal with the problems they create.
