It is with deep sorrow that we announce that our colleague Yancho Yanev (born June 4, 1949) has left us today. With 33 years of service, Yancho was one of the longest-serving employees at the Plovdiv Municipality’s Directorate of Culture, where he spent most of his career from 1979 to 2012, the year he retired.
During these 33 years Yancho gave his tireless energy, strength, work and professionalism on behalf of the development of amateur and non-professional ensembles in Plovdiv, for the well-being of Plovdiv community centers and supporting amateur groups in the field of folklore.
Yancho Yanev’s greatest personal pride will remain his favorite son – the International Folklore Festival, among whose creators he is. For its 25 editions (up to and including 2019), the International Folklore Festival has become a tradition for the cultural life of Plovdiv. and in a real vacation expected by the residents and guests of the city. Even after his retirement, Yancho Yanev continued to be an active member of the organizational team that deals with his annual participation.
And so to this day!
We all know how severe the pain of losing a loved one is and how difficult it is to get over it. But we also know how valuable support is in a difficult time!
We will remember him as a very kind, considerate colleague, always smiling and cheerful, dedicated and guardian of the union. I sincerely believed in the spirit of the motto of the European Capital of Culture!
Peace and light of your spirit! A deep bow! We mourn together with our relatives for the irrecoverable loss!
