The Barça will buy without Messi

Spain coach and former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique also commented on the saga surrounding Lionel Messi’s request to leave.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner decided not to sue the club and remain at the Camp Nou Stadium until the end of his contract, which expires on June 30 next year.

“This is a very difficult topic and I’m not sure if I should comment on it. I think clubs are bigger than individuals,” said Lucho, who leads the Blaugranas from 2014 to 2017.

“Barcelona is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has won many trophies. Obviously, the club and the player had a great relationship. Leo helped Barça rise with his great performance. I would be happy if they understood each other.”

“Sooner or later Messi will not play for Barça and it will be better if the separation becomes friendly. It will be a shame that he leaves, but the club will continue to win trophies without Messi,” added Enrique.
