A tragic incident overshadowed Sunday at the French championship. A maintenance worker at the Lorient stadium died tonight after a ridiculous accident, the club announced.
After the game against Rennes, the 38-year-old father of three started watering the grass when part of the lighting system fell on him. The man suffered cardiac arrest and was rushed to hospital, but died shortly after. A fire department called to inspect the other light fixtures.
The police have launched an investigation into the case to determine the cause of the incident.
A tragic accident occurred when the Lorient field manager was struck by the support placed on the grass that contained heat lamps reserved for the grass.
The camp manager later died from his injuries.
