Today, December 16, a contract for the modernization of 44 T-72 tanks for the needs of the tank formations of the Land Forces was concluded between the Ministry of Defense and TEREM-HOLDING EAD. It has a value of 78,719,472 BGN with VAT and is for a period of 2 years. The contract also provides for the modernization of three MT-LB U command and personnel machines.
“This agreement aims to improve the capabilities of the Land Forces. It is a useful step in the right direction. In this way we restore the balance in the modernization of the Armed Forces,” Defense Minister Krassimir Karakachanov said. in which the project of a new armored infantry vehicle would be implemented.
TEREM-HOLDING EAD CEO Ivan Doskov emphasized that the contract is extremely important to the company. “His signature is a continuation of the efforts made by the Ministry of Defense to restore the combat capabilities of the Bulgarian Army, as” TEREM – HOLDING “is part of this process. Each lev and each financial resource invested is also reflected in preserving the capabilities of military repair plants, “said Ivan Doskov.
The modernization of the T-72 main battle tank aims to reduce the time to detect the target, its classification and its defeat, increase the accuracy of fire, increase the survivability, provide autonomy and the ability to exchange large amounts of information with the base station, as well as and with the other machines of the battalion and the superior court.
Part of the activities to be carried out are delivery, installation and integration of a modern fire control system, autonomy system, combat control system, radiation early warning system and others.
The Bulgarian company will acquire technical know-how for the subsequent maintenance of some of the modernized systems. This is another step to increase the capabilities of the Bulgarian defense industry.
